At the time of this blog post (February 2026) serial Grindr fraudster Dongqiao Li (also spelt as Dong Qiao Li and often known by friends as Tony Lee), aged 32, is still wanted on arrest warrants in the states of NSW and South Australia following his recent prison sentence in Victoria for fraud-related crimes. If you genuinely believe he is in either NSW or South Australia, please call local police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Li absconded from Sydney, NSW ahead of his sentencing at the end of March 2025 and was arrested in Melbourne several days later. He was charged by Victoria Police with several fraud-related offences and was subsequently given his first custodial sentence in September that year after the Melbourne Magistrate was made aware of his long history of offending.
While it is great news that he was given a jail sentence in Victoria it is crucial that he is held accountable for his crimes in both NSW and South Australia. It is also unfair on his victims as this has been hanging over them without closure for while.
Please phone police immediately or Crime Stoppers if you are aware of him being in either state. I also encourage anyone who believes they may have been a victim of his to also go to police.
Just a reminder that his typical modus operandi over many years has been to contact potential victims on Grindr and invite them to his five-star hotel room. At some point he will often invite them to have a shower. While in the shower he accesses his victim’s wallet and will steal their credit card details. He will then spend their money on products such as expensive restaurants, beauty treatments, flights and top hotels. Names he has used include Anton, Tony and Anthony.
I hope that Li has not reoffended since his recent sentencing in Melbourne but, again, it is important that he faces up to his crimes and is held accountable in both NSW and South Australia for any crimes committed there.
Please note, once again, I utterly condemn any harassment of Li or anyone connected to him. If you have concerns about Li or his behaviour please contact police.
